Why Packet Clarity?

Get the network visibility you need to troubleshoot with confidence

100ms Interval

Monitor latency and packet loss on 100ms intervals to catch even the briefest network issues. If your monitoring interval is too high you will miss short periods of packet loss.

Global Endpoints

Test connectivity to endpoints around the world with real UDP packets for accurate network performance measurement.

Clear Visualizations

Intuitive graphs and dashboards that make it easy to identify network issues at a glance.

Prove Network Innocence

When users complain about network issues, you'll have the data to prove whether the problem was network-related or not.

About

Our Story

I've always needed better tools to monitor latency and packet loss. Existing solutions like Smokeping with default 5-minute intervals were missing short but critical network issues. I tried Netdata and PingPlotter on more aggressive 1sec intervals, but I have seen people on reddit mention they do not trust ICMP data and they wanted real UDP traffic data instead. Also, network devices de-prioritize responding to ICMP packets and a lot of servers ICMP rate-limit and this will mess with your latency and packet loss data.

I also realized there wasn't a simple solution that non-technical users could install and share the data with me so I could help them troubleshoot issues. That's why I built Packet Clarity - a solution that's easy to deploy on Windows and Linux devices while providing the granular data IT professionals need. My non-technical friends can just share me their Packet Clarity link and I can help them troubleshoot.

Packet Clarity sends UDP packets every 100ms to global endpoints, giving you the visibility to confidently determine if network issues are affecting you or your users. When someone reports a problem, you'll have the data to prove network innocence or identify the root cause.

Daily ISP Comparison Reports

We run four ISPs into the same nbn FTTP NTD and publish what we measure, every single day.

Four ISPs. One fibre. Same second.

Telstra, Ozot, Aussie Broadband and Superloop, each on their own UNI-D port of one nbn connection box — identical hardware, identical probes, identical endpoints. Every difference in the numbers comes from the ISP’s own network and nothing else.

Minimum, average and maximum latency plus packet loss to every global endpoint, published daily with the raw data attached.

  • Min / Avg / Max latency to all 12 endpoints
  • Packet loss % per ISP, per endpoint
  • 24-hour loss timeline at 5-minute resolution
  • Full method published with every report
  • Raw data downloadable as JSON
